I don’t know about you, but on cloudy days I tend to look up in the sky searching for the sun. It’s not that I think it has disappeared, but it confirms something I know in my spirit, that clouds won’t be here always. Inclement weather has come to pass. Looking for the sun is a great outlook on life. Everything we are dealing with now are just clouds. The sun is on the way.
In the midst of Daniel’s dream, he is being led through its interpretation. The Bible says that he “was grieved in my spirit within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.” One of the celestial beings, that I believe was attending the Ancient of Days, is asked by Daniel if this is true. Then begins a summary interpretation of the kingdoms that will rise out of the earth.
These kingdoms have been discussed before and are repeated for Daniel. The Lion would represent Babylon, a culture that he was familiar with. It is with the Babylonians that this timeline begins. The bear would represent Medo-Persia, the empire that he was currently serving. The next kingdom would be Greece with the last beast, the great and terrible one, being Rome.
The interpretation of these kingdoms causes physical and mental anguish in Daniel. Was it the animal representation of the kingdoms? When he shared the same information with Nebuchadnezzar, he did not seem as upset or shook. Perhaps it was the grand nature of what he saw versus interpreting what someone else saw. It’s amazing how your feelings can change depending on your perspective. It’s the difference between seeing a picture of starving children versus actually feeding starving children.
During his time of anxiousness and discomfort comes this assurance from his celestial guide, “The saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever.” So even as he was aware of one kingdom falling after the other, there is still one kingdom that will not fall. This kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom and the saints of the Living God will be there. “The usurpation and misrule of the wicked shall come to an end. The forfeited inheritance shall be redeemed. Peace shall be restored to its distracted borders, and righteousness shall reign over all the expanse of the renovated earth.”[1]
While the uncertainty and gloominess of our current situation may make you feel like all is lost, the angel of the LORD reminds us that ‘trouble don’t last always.’ When the political climate has you wanting to give up on everything and everybody, look up. There is a kingdom coming that will not be subject to the movements of men, but will be moved by the Monarch we magnify. This kingdom will be a prepared place for prepared people. (John 14:2, 3)
In this kingdom the Son will shine out of the clouds of heaven. To Him will be glory, and honor, dominion and power. His kingdom will never be destroyed.

- When you think of heaven, what do you think about? Share.
- The Bible teaches that this last kingdom will never be overthrown because it is an eternal kingdom. Tell someone how that makes you feel.
- Pray that we be prepared and help prepare others for God’s soon coming kingdom.
